A teenage competitive swimmer who nearly drowned at a private pool in south Charlotte during a team practice has made a full recovery.
SwimMAC said that 17-year-old swimmer Dima Zaystev, who was pulled from the pool on July 17 at the SwimMac Training Center in south Charlotte has made a full recovery and has returned home with his family.
According to emergency crews, firefighters and Medic responded to the Mecklenburg Aquatic Club pool on July 17 shortly before 4:30 p.m. in response to a drowning call.
SwimMAC is a competition team comprised of age-group swimmers ranging from seven-years-old to 19-years-old.
According to SwimMAC officials, a 17-year old male was in the pool for practice, when he had to be pulled out of the pool around 4 p.m.
"The SwimMAC coaching staff administered emergency life-saving measures immediately after removing the swimmer from the pool," officials told WBTV.
Emergency Medical personnel, along with the Charlotte Fire Department and Charlotte Mecklenburg Police, arrived at the pool shortly thereafter and took control of the situation.
