UNION COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -
Charlotte firefighters were called out to help Union County deputies with a triple homicide investigation on Tuesday.
According to officials, the dive team with the Charlotte Fire Department was dispatched around 9 a.m. Tuesday morning to assist deputies with an evidence search along the 8200 block of Olive Branch Road, just north of Marshville.
Union County Sheriff, Eddie Cathey, told WBTV crews were searching the pond in related to a triple homicide that took place more than a week ago.
The pond is on the property of 24-year-old Randall Hank Morrison's grandparents.
Morrison was arrested last week after the bodies of Ronnie Dale Overcash, Jerry Wayne Marsh and Crystal Dawn Hicks were found in the home and woods next to Morrison's home.
Crew used a metal detector and took a small boat on the pond, Sheriff Cathey told WBTV, but were not able to locate what they were looking for. According to Cathey, investigators went back out to search this area because they found evidence there before.
Deputies say the three were killed at a home along the 1000 block of Landsford Road, in Marshville, last weekend.
Morrison claimed he found the bodies when he and his daughter went over to the home to feed the animals. During the course of the investigation, the findings began to point to Morrison as a suspect in the killings.
Crystal Hicks was found in a wooded area near the home, while Ronnie Overcash and Jerry Marsh were found inside the house.
WBTV has learned that a shotgun and knife were used during the crime, but Cathey says the weapons have not been recovered by investigators.
Morrison has been charged with three counts of First Degree Murder, and three counts of Robbery With a Dangerous Weapon. He is currently being held in the Union County Jail, and being held without bond pending an initial District Court appearance in August.
