HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) A Great Falls, S.C. man on vacation with his wife and family died Thursday afternoon after drowning in the ocean. Corporal Justin Wyatt with the Horry County Police Department tells WMBF News the call came in around 3:30p.m. for a drowning near the Myrtle Beach Travel Park.
Horry County Coroner Robert Edge tells WMBF News that Henry Lane, 68, tried to help a swimmer in distress, but died of asphyxiation at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center just after 4:00p.m.
Corporal Wyatt says the HCPD is investigating.
