Greenville County deputies said a man was stabbed to death at a cookout Wednesday afternoon.
The stabbing happened about 5:30 p.m. at 104 Pear St.
Deputies said that when they arrived at the scene, they found a man suffering from several stab wounds. They said the 66-year-old man was taken to an area hospital for treatment, where he later died.
Willie Shanks, 48, of Greenville was charged with murder in connection with the stabbing. He was being held at the county jail without bond.
Investigators did not immediately release the circumstances that led up to the stabbing.
The victim's identity was not immediately released.
