CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are asking for help finding a man they say cut off his electronic monitoring device and skipped his court date.

Donald Lee Blakney, 23, has been on CMPD Electronic Monitoring since he posted a $20,000 bond in early February. He was scheduled to be in court on July 3, but never showed up. Then, police say, he cut off his electronic monitor near The Plaza and Eastway Drive on the same day.

Blakney has an extensive criminal history that includes multiple arrests for breaking and entering, robbery, and probation violations, according to police.

Now, Blakney is wanted by the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team on outstanding warrants for larceny after breaking and entering, felony possession of stolen goods, and interfering with an electronic monitoring device.

Anyone with information on Blakney's whereabouts should immediately contact the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) at (704)336-VACT or call 911.
