Grassroots racing event, brings out future NASCAR stars

Charlotte, NC - (WBTV)

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver, Aric Almirola, was taking in some grassroots racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway Tuesday evening .. or maybe checking out future competition at the Legends Big Money 100!

One of the favorites at the event, Darrell 'bubba' Wallace, is currently a development driver for Joe Gibbs Racing. The regular on NASCAR's K&N Series is a name that if you don't know already .. you'll probably hear more about very soon.

The 18 year old was recently named as one of five young drivers to watch in ESPN the magazine's special 'NEXT' issue.

Tuesday nights race winner Tyler Green took home the $25,000 first-place prize. Green is the son of former NASCAR driver Mark Green. Green is also a friend of Aric Almirola, and a spotter on his Richard Petty Motorsports No. 43 Ford.

Wallace was caught up in a wreck while leading with four laps to go and finished 14th. Below is the top 5.
