CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Brace yourself for a heat wave in the Carolinas this weekend. With a strong ridge of high pressure building in overhead, temperatures will soar into the triple digits by Friday.
Multiple advisories have been issued in advance of potentially deadly temperatures. Daytime heat indices will top 105 degrees, and only drop to near 80 overnight, giving your body a difficult time cooling itself down.
Drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks from the heat and be sure to check on neighbors. Don't forget your pets, either. Make sure they have access to clean, fresh water and access to a shady spot.
Temperatures will drop below 100 early next week. Click here for a look at your 7 day forecast.
