JONESVILLE, NC (WBTV) -
Deputies in Yadkin County say a young child was home and hid in a closet while a man broke into a Jonesville home.
According to the Yadkin County Sheriff's Office, the young child called 911 on Wednesday afternoon around 1:40 p.m. from a home along Swan Creek Road.
The child told 911 operators and said a man was attempting to get into the home. Dispatchers told the child to hide in a closet and remain on the phone with communications.
Deputies with the Yadkin County Sheriff's Office arrived on the scene within three minutes of receiving the 911 call, the report states, and found Matthew Keith Guenther, 28, at the home with $3,800 worth jewelry in his pocket.
Guenther was arrested and charged with Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny, Possession of Burglary Tools, Damage to Property, Simple Possession of Oxycodone and Hydrocodone, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
He is being held at the Yadkin County Jail under a $75,000 secured bond.
The Yadkin County Sheriff's Office reminds parents if they have children at home this summer to be aware of their surroundings and know what to do in an emergency situation and not hesitate to call 911.
