SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) -
Police in Salisbury say a sex offender was busted outside of a city pool, watching the people inside with binoculars.
According to the Salisbury Police Department, officers were called to the Lincoln Park Pool along Old Concord Road on Monday afternoon around 4 p.m.
When they arrived, lifeguards at the pool told officers they noticed a man sitting on a bench in the park area outside the fenced in pool, watching people at the pool with binoculars
Officers found the man, later identified as 48-year-old Perry Quintin Simmons, sitting on a park bench about 75 feet from the pool area. Officers found binoculars in his possession.
Police say Simmons is a registered sex offender.
He was arrested and charged with Obstruction of Justice-Common Law, for violation of his requirements as a registered sex offender. He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $5,000 bond.
The lifeguards working at the pool did a very good job of being aware of the pool surroundings and are to be commended, police told WBTV.
