Eatery closes after 40 years

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - It has been a staple on North Hoskins road in North West Charlotte for 40 years. Mr. Quick is home to a quick lunch in a dining room full of friends.

"For my parents, it's their lifetime achievement," said daughter Tammy Helms.

Owners Jerry and Sally Russell have dished up to a hungry lunch crowd side-by-side for 40 years. They decided June 29, 2012, they'd close up shop for good.

The decision wasn't taken lightly, but has the couple in a perpetual good mood. As of Monday only 4 more days of working, then the couple, in their early 70's can take it easy for a while.

"I'll do whatever I want to do," says Jerry before being interrupted by his wife, "Probably putting up with me mostly," said Sally.

The couple says they've made more friends in 40 years than they've made fries. And in the world of restaurant ownership, that's a business built on success.
