CALDWELL COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -
The Caldwell County Fire Marshal's office is assisting in the investigation of a mobile home fire that was reported just before midnight, Sunday, June 24, in the Grace Chapel area of Caldwell County.
Kevin Brown, Deputy Fire Marshal with the Caldwell County Fire Marshal's Office was called to the scene of a fire at 4779 Rock Creek Circle, off Dudley Shoals Road by the Grace Chapel Fire Department.
A single wide mobile home was on fire. Brown says the home was vacant at the time and had no power connected.
Reports indicate that a neighbor called in the fire after seeing smoke coming from the eaves of the home and flames through the kitchen window. The home is owned by Ronal Franklin as a rental but had been vacant for the previous two weeks.
Upon investigation, Brown says the fire is suspicious, had multiple points of origin and appeared to have been started using combustible materials available at the scene. Brown says the mobile home was destroyed and damages were estimated at approximately $6,000.
Brown asks that anyone having information about the fire, contact the Caldwell County Fire Marshal's Office at 828-757-1280.
Responding to the fire in addition to Brown and the Grace Chapel Fire Department were the Little River Fire Department and the Caldwell County Sheriff Department.
