Stormy evening is on the way

Hello again everyone, it's Paul Cameron in the WBTV newsroom.

Tonight at 5:00PM—a stormy evening is on the way.  Strong thundershowers are sweeping down from the mountains and Eric Thomas has his eye on the scope.

City council members stage an emergency meeting to talk budget today.  They're racing against the clock as a new budget must be voted on by July 1st.  Our business reporter Melissa Hankins will tell us if today's session will be compromise or sacrifice and what it will take for a majority to agree.

26 people dead after a gun battle in Afghanistan.  We've got video of people jumping into a nearby lake to avoid the bullet barrage.

From thriving, to empty-- downtown Kannapolis hope to reverse the trend and fill up its empty store fronts with shops and eateries.  David Whisenant reports on the plans for K-town's revitalization.
