CHESTER, SC (WBTV) -
A couple wanted in a Chester beating was spotted and arrested by an alert bicycle patrolman in Myrtle Beach.
On June 15, officers with the Chester Police Department responded to a call for an assault and a non-responsive person on Tremont Drive.
When they arrived at the scene, they found Bradley McAteer, 24, had been beaten and left unconscious in the home. McAteer was then taken to a local hospital where he was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center, according to the Chester Police Department.
McAteer died from his injuries the next day while at CMC.
During the investigation, officers determined that McAteer had been arguing with Anthony O'Brian Isom, 23, prior to the beating. They were also able to determine that the suspect, along with his girlfriend, Crystal Harley Pardue, 26, had left the scene in a gray Impala, police said.
A search warrant was immediately issued for the suspects by the CPD Investigations Unit, Administrative Staff, and SLED at several locations within the city and county Friday and Saturday night.
Investigators later learned that the couple may have fled to Myrtle Beach, according to police.
Chief Andre T. Williams requested the assistance of the Myrtle Beach Police Department along with several news channels local to the area, a statement by police says.
Around 12:30 a.m. on Monday morning, a bicycle patrolman with the Myrtle Beach Police Department recognized the suspects walking to their vehicle and called for assistance.
The couple was arrested and later brought back to Chester, where they are being detained at the Chester County Law Enforcement Detention Center.
They are being charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
