CONCORD, NC (WBTV) – The High School Player Development (HSPD) program teamed up with the National Guard and the NFL to host a football camp for local high school athletes.
The camp started June 13 and ran three days from 5PM until 8PM. The first day had around 150 students from various schools like Mallard Creek, Cox Mill, Mount Pleasant and many others.
During the program, the coaches focus on basic skills, NCAA eligibility, concussion awareness and the importance of teamwork and leadership.
HSPD manager, Terry Gittens, said the camp was to help the players focus on being good student athletes and give guidance on pursuing football after high school.
