A yearbook manufacturing plant that employs 130 people in North Carolina is closing.
A spokeswoman with Herff Jones Inc. of Indianapolis said the company has decided to close its plant in Matthews by the end of the year.
The company has four other yearbook production plants in the United States. The company decided that its plant in Gettysburg, Pa., would better serve the eastern United States.
The spokeswoman said the Matthews employees were told about the decision Monday. She says some of the Matthews employees might be able to move to jobs elsewhere in the company.
Herff Jones also makes educational products, recognition awards and other graduation-related items.
