CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Fire investigators are working to find the cause of an early morning fire that destroyed a business in the 700 block of East Boulevard in Charlotte's Dilworth neighborhood.

Firefighters were called to 716 East Boulevard around 2:00 Saturday morning, and pulled a second alarm to fight the flames that shot through the roof.

It took more than a hour for 50 firefighters to bring it under control.

East Boulevard between Lennox and Springfield was closed for several hours, but had reopened by 7:00 a.m.

No one was hurt. Charlotte Fire PIO Mark Basnight confirmed the building was "a total loss."

Charlotte Fire Department confirms the current tenant is Total Protections. According to its web site, the company provides security to high-threat buildings such as nuclear power plants and certain government facilities.

Total Protections told WBTV the company will maintain normal business operations. The company is working to replace equipment and items destroyed by the fire, but will not shut down during that process.
