CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -
Police in Charlotte say one man is dead after he was shot in the driveway of an east Charlotte home.
According to police, the shooting happened along the 5600 block of Wilora Lake Road on Monday evening around 5:34 p.m.
Officers were called to the home and found the body of 21-year-old Christopher Cordero.
Police believe Cordero and the shooter got into a fight in the driveway which led to the shooting. Police do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence.
According to witnesses the suspects are described as two black males, one with dreadlocks. They were last seen fleeing the scene in a white SUV, possibly a Ford Explorer, towards Sharon Amity Road.
CMPD's K-9 Unit responded and attempted to track the suspects. Patrol units, as well as the helicopter, circulated the area but officers have been unable to locate the suspects at this time.
Detectives are currently canvassing the area to determine if anyone saw or heard anything in the moments leading up to the shooting that will aid in the investigation.
Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.
Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team as well as the Vice and Gang Unit responded to the scene.
