CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - It's not too late to get your child registered for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools magnet school lottery.
CMS sent the following release to WBTV Friday:
Parents still have a few days before the second student-assignment (magnet) lottery deadline at 10 p.m. on Monday, June 4. To participate, students new to CMS for the 2012-2013 school year must have enrolled by the May 4 deadline.
Students enrolled for the upcoming year by May 4 may apply to any magnet program for which they are eligible. This includes students who did not participate in the first lottery, as well as those who were placed in a wait pool as a result of the first lottery. If a student who was placed in a wait pool as a result of the first lottery decides to participate in the second lottery, they will be removed from their place in the wait pool. If a student participates in both the first and second lottery, the results of the second lottery will override those of the first. Families will receive placement notification from the Student Placement office at the end of June.
Families who do not wish to participate in the second student-assignment lottery may submit their enrollment forms for the 2012-2013 school year at any time. CMS encourages early registration so schools can accurately plan for the coming year and families can receive important communication from their student's school.
