NORWOOD, NC (WBTV) - For the first time since 1998, the South Stanly softball team will play for the 1A State Championship.
It hasn't been an easy journey for the ladies battling some injuries along the way, but they've stuck together and are 25-6 heading to the championship series.
South Stanly will battle 16-11 Camden in the best of 3 series. 16-11 is not a record you normally see associated with a team playing for at state title, but South Stanly will not overlook this team and go in over confident.
Both the South Stanly baseball and softball teams have supported each other throughout the season, and it has led to one special weekend for the community of South Stanly.
