NORWOOD, NC (WBTV) - For the 3rd time in the last 4 years, South Stanly's baseball team will play for the 1A State Championship in baseball.
They won the title back in 2009 and was the state runner up last year losing in decisive Game 3. That loss has fueled this squad this year to a 27-4 record.
Timely hitting has been key for this squad led by Stephen Wallace who has 8 homeruns, 40 RBI and is hitting .432.
The team they will meet in the championship series, Voyager Academy, is making their first appearance in the championship series, so experience is on the side of the Rowdy Rebel Bulls, but they're not taking anything for granted.
