Though another day has passed in the Boone County Sheriff's investigation of the homicide case, they're not giving any possible new leads.
The Mockbee family was rocked by the death of Michelle Mockbee, a mother who lived for her two young girls. The Mockbee home sat silent Wednesday morning. A friend brought flowers to the doorstep, but they sat unmoved along with the newspaper in the driveway.
It was a different scene from Tuesday when detectives searched the home for any possible evidence they could use in the case. As officers work to catch the killer, community members are remembering the victim.
Beechwood Elementary School says both parents were active at the school and Michelle was a member of the PTSA and a former room parent. Her girls just finished up their first and fourth grade years last Friday and were out on summer break.
Neighbors tell FOX19 that Michelle often headed off to work before her husband, who they say worked at Thermo Fisher Scientific as well. While the company would not confirm he is an employee, their phone directory does include a Dan Mockbee. His voicemail announced he would be out of the office until June 4.
