WBTV Speak Out: Graduates, Find Your Passion

Posted: Updated:

"Speak Out" is an expression of opinion from the Editorial Board of WBTV, and is presented by General Manager, Nick Simonette.

It's graduation season once again. And for you seniors, this time of transition offers many options that will shape the rest of your lives.

You may be going off to college with dreams of being a doctor or a lawyer.

Or, you may be leaving without a clue as to what you want to do for the rest of your life.

We want to encourage you to truly take the time to find a career you love.

For instance, do like to fix things or are you more comfortable sitting at a desk?

Do you like excitement in your daily life or do you prefer a routine?

Do you like computers or is working with your hands more to your liking?

Today, you will find more places than ever to explore your talents and temperament...places not far from home.

We say start right here in your own community.

Charlotte offers one of the best community colleges in the nation...

one of the best culinary schools in the nation...

trade schools with computer and medical technology...

as well as nursing classes, criminal justice and welding classes, to name just a few.

In the end, when you are through exploring, you can honestly say that you found a career.

More importantly though, you can say that you discovered your passion.

You may even want an internship in television. At WBTV, we are always looking for great people.

So, good luck in exploring!
