LANCASTER, SC (WBTV) -
A Lancaster woman was arrested Tuesday after Sheriff's deputies say she stated a kitchen fire in her neighbor's apartment.
Tammy Lynn Williams, 45, is charged with arson, according to a news release from the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office.
On Tuesday the Sheriff's
Office and County Fire units were dispatched to Westway Apartments off Memorial
Park Road in Lancaster regarding a fire.
Upon arrival it was determined that a fire had been started in 1518
Westway Apartments and burned the interior wall. It was then determined that there was grease
left cooking in 1516 Westway Apartment which was filled with smoke. Damage to the apartment complex was estimated
at $4,000. Firefighters advised that the
fire appeared to be suspicious in nature.
At this point, it is believed
that Williams entered 1516 without permission to use the neighbor's stove. Williams left the stove on and the apartment
started to fill with smoke. Williams
then started a fire in her apartment that joins the wall with 1516 in an
attempt to make the fire look electrical in nature.
Williams was arrested and transported to the
Detention Center and charged with Arson.
Williams remains incarcerated at the Lancaster County Detention Center
on a $10,000 surety bond.
