CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The storms Tuesday night were responsible for an apartment fire which damaged two units in south Charlotte.
Two of the units at the Emerald Bay Apartments off of Cherrycrest Lane in south Charlotte have two less people living in them Wednesday morning.
A large line of thunder storms passed over the area overnight, bringing with it violent lightning, one of which is blamed for starting a fire in the complex.
Charlotte firefighters were able to get on scene quickly, and get the flames under control while assisting the people in the effected units to escape.
No one was injured during the fire.
Two of the apartments suffered fire, smoke and water damage, but emergency crews were able to save over a half a dozen other units.
Damage is estimated at around fifty thousand dollars.
The American Red Cross was called in to help find another place for the residents to live until their apartments are repaired.
