LIVE: Man and woman shot during robbery attempt at their Charlotte home

Good morning! Today is Monday, May 21. This is Christine Nelson writing you from my desk in the newsroom. Here's a look at the stories we're working on when you tune in to WBTV News This Morning. We're on from 4:30-7:00 a.m.

We will be live in Charlotte at the scene of a frightening home invasion for a sleeping man and woman. WBTV's Cam Man Ron Lee was there shortly after we heard the commotion on the scanner. He has details on this couple's brave escape after they were shot and what authorities are doing right now to find this robber.

We're also following what will likely made national headlines and a Hickory man is at the center of it. Willie Grimes, who spent 23 years in prison for a crime he says he didn't commit, will be freed today. If you haven't heard about this one, you'll want to tune in for what will be an emotional day for Grimes and his family. WBTV's Kristen Hampton has the story.

Plus...Were you born between 1945 and 1965?? If the answer is yes, the CDC says you need to get tested for a serious virus. We'll explain.

See you on the air!

Christine
