Posted: Updated:

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV)-Federal Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Willie James Steele Jr.

On Friday, the U.S. Attorney's office in Charlotte announced that Steele who is a North Carolina probation officer faces charges of civil rights violations.

A federal grand jury here returned a three count indictment against Steele and among the most serious of the allegations is that he "engaged in acts that resulted in bodily injury and aggravated sexual abuse."

The four page indictment sites two alleged incidents that occurred during June and October 2008.

The victims were not named in the court papers.

A source close to the investigation told WBTV that worked out of the State Probation office on Executive Center Drive just off of Albemarle Road in East Charlotte.

It's unknown when Steele will be making his first court appearance.

That largely depends when he's located by investigators, or if Steele decides to surrender to authorities.

Meanwhile, Investigators are continuing to look into the case.

The U.S. attorney's office is asking if anyone has any new information regarding the suspect in that they contact the Charlotte office of the FBI.
