Carolinas picking up much-needed rainfall, some may see flooding

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - An area of low pressure over Georgia is bringing with it a lot of rain to the Carolinas today.  With rain falling steadily over the same areas, flooding will be a concern today, particularly in areas West of Charlotte where 2-3 inches of rain could fall.

An Areal Flood Advisory has been issued for parts of Cleveland, Burke, Catawba and Lincoln counties this morning.  This could cause minor flooding even after the rain stops.

Some of the most prone areas will be near the Henry Fork River and Rock Creek as runoff collects in these areas.

Flash flooding is also possible in the mountains.
