CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) An overturned semi has shut down rush hour traffic trying to make the merge from I-485 onto I-77.
Flashing blue lights warning drivers of a major problem ahead. People craning their heads trying to get a look on why their commute to work wasn't going as smoothly as they had hoped.
It became pretty obvious what the problem was.
A tractor trailer truck had overturned coming from I-485 just south of Huntersville, trying to get onto I-77 northbound.
There's no word as of yet how the driver is.
When State Highway Patrol units arrived on scene around 6am Thursday, the truck way laying on its right side blocking anyway around it.
Troopers shut down the onramp, and plans were quickly drawn up on how to clear the truck from the roadway.
But it may not be as easy as some drivers hope.
In situations like this, a special crane has to be called in to first right the truck before it can be towed away.
There's also a question on what cargo it was hauling. If it's too heavy, the contents may have to be unloaded first, further delaying the time it will take to clear the scene.
