The Dearborn County prosecutor has announced charges in the case of an Aurora woman found murdered in her home in March.
Charles "Steve" Stephenson is charged with murder and robbery in the case.
Leigh Jennings, 67, was found dead in her apartment on Aspen drive.
She cut hair at a barber shop in Florence where she met Stephenson.
Aurora Police Chief Brian Fields says they linked Stephenson to the murder because his DNA was found on a pepper grinder and a frying pan that was used to kill her. "It was very important to us to hold this person responsible for this crime," said Fields. "It was a horrible crime and we're not used to this type of thing in Aurora."
"As a family, we only seek justice for my mom, Leigh Jennings, who we miss very dearly," said Jennings' son, Ryan Siebe. "We've lost a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother." "We will probably not recover from the loss for a very long time," said Siebe.
Dearborn County prosecutor, Aaron Negangard said he had not decided whether or not to pursue the death penalty in this case. Stephenson could also face live in prison without the possibility of parole if he is convicted
Stephenson is the nephew of Bill and Peggy Stephenson.
They were murdered in their Florence home last year, but Stephenson hasn't been linked to that case.
