Thursday at 11pm: Beer Babes In Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -  Tracie Guild is on a mission.

"I really am trying to bring women and craft beer together in the Charlotte area," she said.

It isn't a club with the goal of getting drunk.   These women are serious about the subtleties of beer.  They want to be a part of what is a growing craft beer scene in Charlotte.

They aren't just drinking, though.

"We're on beer nine, I think," said Erin Shomber.

She means she's brewing her 9th type of beer in her kitchen right now.  Erin Shomber and a friend decided home brewing was just like following a recipe and now they're hooked.

Consumer Reporter Kristen Miranda takes a look at how these women are received in what could be considered the territory of men.  She'll also tell us why some say women are better at beer tasting than the guys.

That story airs Thursday night on WBTV News at 11.
