HUNTERSVILLE, NC (WBTV) - When James Perri applied and took the test to be on the show, that was it. He didn't hear from the producers of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire", until more than a year later.
But last November he finally got his chance to appear on the show for a shot at a cool million dollar prize.
He didn't get the mega bucks. But he does get to tell his story of where his winnings will actually go.
James has beat a very rare type of brain tumor not only once, but twice.
His wife Nancy helped set up a foundation to help others who've also battled the rare tumor type. Oligocure.org is a non-profit set up to fund research into the disease. Monday night, the episode aired where James won $15,800 to go to the cause.
