TAYLORSVILLE, NC (WBTV) – The lady cougars of Alexander Central are after more than just another championship.
Taylorsville is a small town with a huge sports interest. In fact, they've even coined the phrase (with help from Maiden) as the biggest little softball town in America. The girls on the team have grown up playing softball together.
Lauren Elder, Cortlin Hartness, Chelsea Wilkinson and Brianna Elder have played for Coach Sherrill all four years and are on their way to making history, one game at a time.
The community has always rallied behind the team, but now more so than ever with the seniors' record of 105 wins and only 5 losses. They say their success comes from hard work and team unity.
The Cougars' head coach, Monte Sherrill, said it will be an emotional day when the girls stop wearing the A.C. uniforms, but predicts they'll be remembered forever in the softball town of Taylorsville.
