CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - CMPD makes an arrest in a string of business robberies.
Half of a two-man team is in jail, under a million dollar bond, after police say he held a gun to the head of a Sonic restaurant manager and pulled the trigger twice. The gun never fired.
Tony Andre Humphery, 18-years old, is now charged with eleven felonies.
Police now want to find his accomplice. He's a young man seen on surveillance video wearing a mask in a botched robbery attempt at Crown Auto Sales off Orr Road in North Charlotte.
The second man is more heavyset than Humphrey, but it's difficult to see who he is because his face and head are covered.
After drawing a gun and demanding money, the two men were scared off when the a receptionist at Crown ran to get help.
They left in a white Dodge Caravan which police tracked to Charlotte's Hidden Valley neighborhood. An officer spotted the vehicle, but the two men were able to escape.
"Hidden Valley's kind of a big maze," said CMPD Detective Marty Cuthbertson. "It's a large community. You gotta know your way through it to maneuver and get away from police."
Detective Cuthbertson also believes the pair lives in or near Hidden Valley.
"Little hot pockets back in there, schools back in there, you can cut through schools and get to other streets and kind of like go to the other side of the neighborhood if you know the right place."
Humphrey and his accomplice are accused of robbing three other businesses. If you have information that might help police, call Crimestoppers at (704) 334-1600. A $1,000 reward is available.
