See, Click, Fix: Neighborhood out of the dark

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Our visit to Colony Road and Runnymede Lane in Charlotte speaks for itself. It is really dark! It has one viewer telling us there are safety fears for neighboring residents.

Priscilla writes online on our See, Click Fix page: "Many of the street lights...adjacent to AG Middle School and Myers Park High have not worked for many months. We reported this to Duke (Energy), but nothing has happened."

We made one phone call to Duke Energy and that's all it took for them to be able to get the problem solved.

Within a couple days a Duke crew fixed a dozen lights on this street. The neighborhood is now well-lit.

Duke Energy and Charlotte DOT have a campaign reminding people they could get the same results by reporting what they don't see when there's a street light outage. Click here to watch the video on YouTube.

The video explains in less than two minutes how viewers can get outage information to the right officials by using 311 or www.charmeck.org.

Duke Energy says it targets repairing street lights within three business days once it's reported, but emphasizes everyone has to do their part.

You can also report street light outages by sending calling 1-800-POWERON (1-800-769-3766) or sending an email to DukeLighting@duke-energy.com.
