"Speak Out" is an expression of opinion from the Editorial Board of WBTV, and is presented by General Manager, Nick Simonette.
A little history, if you'll indulge us.
WBTV was the first television station in the Carolinas to sign on the air, in July of 1949, and we're the longest-running TV station between Richmond and Atlanta.
In addition to bringing you news and entertainment, one of our key objectives is discussing with you the important issues of our community.
To that end, we began "WBTV SpeakOut" as an expression of opinion from our Editorial Board.
Our Board consists of about a dozen employees of varying ages, genders, races, and job responsibilities.
Over the last four years, the Editorial Board has presented many topics for your consideration.
We've encouraged you to think about what's going on in our region, and how you might get involved.
Many of you have reached out to us via e-mail or with a phone call, sharing your opinions and suggestions.
We love hearing from you.
And we're proud to say that SpeakOut is now a part of the social media world.
You can share your opinions (in 140 characters or less) with us on Twitter.
Our official Twitter name is "@WBTVSpeakOut" and our hash-tag is "#WBTVEditorial."
So whether it's by phone, e-mail, or now via Twitter, we look forward to hearing from you.
We're sure you've got a lot to say.
Tell us what YOU think. SpeakOut@wbtv.com.
