CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Officers chase a man who took off after a domestic call, only to realize the suspect had been stabbed in the back.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police found themselves chasing a man after getting a call about a domestic violence depute early Thursday morning, but when they finally caught up with him, they said the suspect was covered in blood.
At first, officers said they didn't know where the blood was coming from, but when they rolled the man over on his stomach and lifted his shirt, they saw he had been stabbed multiple times.
As Medics were being called, police tracked down the trail of blood to an apartment on Sharon Chase Drive, and said they saw the door coated with blood.
Fearing there was another victim inside, officers kicked down the door, and reported blood in several places inside the unit, but no other victim was located.
The unnamed suspect told officers he was stabbed during a robbery, but police said they have questions about that.
The man also claimed he had never gone to the unit where the blood was found, and police believe that was suspicious as well.
The working theory is the blood belongs to the suspect.
The man was taken to the hospital to be treated for his wounds, but he's not going home after doctors patch him up.
Police said he has a warrant on him for domestic issues, and will be taken into custody.
