CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A man is hospitalized after being hit by a car trying to cross busy Beatties Ford Road on Monday night.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said now that the warmer temperatures are here, more people will be out, and they could see an increase in people hit by cars.
Around 10:30 pm Monday night, a man was precariously situated in the median trying to cross Beatties Ford Road near Cindy Lane.
A sedan was parked waiting for a stoplight to turn green, and when it did, both the car and pedestrian took off.
Officers said the impact sent the walker to the pavement, and emergency crews running to the scene. The man was taken in by Medics to be evaluated by doctors, but is expected to be okay.
Beatties Ford Road southbound was closed for nearly two hours while investigators from the CMPD HITS unit took measurements, and wrote reports.
In the end, police aren't planning on filing any charges against the driver.
