CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Garrett Carnes was serving in Afghanistan when he was injured in February by an IED. He lost his legs and has a long road of recovery ahead of him.
Back in his home community in Mooresville there are efforts underway to let Garrett know just how much his hometown cares about him.
Marla Watts decided she wanted to do more than just express her gratitude toward the family.
She's organizing a walk for Garrett to raise money for his family and raise awareness of the hard work Marines and other service members like him are willing to do.
The event is March 10th, you can click here for more information.
