Muggsy Bogues hosts annual basketball camp in Matthews

MATTHEWS, NC (WBTV) - Muggsy Bogues is hosting his annual Fundamental Basketball Camp from Monday, June 25 through Friday, June 29, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Crews Road Recreation in Matthews, North Carolina.

Boys and girls ages 6-14 with a passion for basketball and are looking for some great summer fun are encouraged to come.

For those interested in a later date, Muggsy Bogues Back to School Basketball Camp will be taking place Monday, August 13 through Friday, August 17.

Muggsy Bogues, the NBA all-star himself, will be onsite throughout the entire week.

In 1989, Muggsy began his first basketball camp and 23 years later, the camp is still flourishing and spreading his ideology: "Always believe".

At 5'3, all Muggsy had to do to break records was step on a basketball court. He became the living personification that anything is possible with hard work and an intense passion for the game. Bogues wants to spread the message that no matter how big or small, as long as you have heart and believe in yourself, anything is possible.

If you have a love for basketball and want to work hard, this is the place for you!

At Fundamental Basketball Camp, the camp experience is designed to develop the player on and off the court.  The camp has focused and will continue to focus on three things: The fundamentals of basketball, the importance of practice and team play, and ensuring all campers fully enjoy themselves during the camp week.

Campers will have the opportunity to work on their basketball skills with other campers their age and skill level, while receiving unparalleled coaching from Muggsy Bogues.  The full day basketball experience will contain fun contests, drills, catered lunches so be sure to come; you do not want to miss out!

The cost is $215 for Matthews residents and $225 for non-Matthews residents.  To register or receive more details about the camps, be sure to visit www.matthewsnc..gov or www.muggsybogues.com.
