CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Investigators said three men arrested in Charlotte early Thursday morning are not suspects in an Atlanta-area homicide, but they are still facing charges.
A "BOLO", or a "be on the lookout" order was sent out to police around the area for two men in an SUV with Virginia tags after Wednesday evening's triple homicide.
North Carolina troopers were able to locate and pull over the vehicle along the shoulder of I-85 near the Mallard Creek exit.
Three men were inside that SUV, including Rashad Cornelius Johnson, 31, and Raheem Richardson, 40. Georgia officials wanted to question those men about the homicide.
Troopers took all three men into custody, but waited to question them until Georgia homicide detectives arrived in Charlotte.
Upon questioning the men, investigators said Johnson and Richardson are charged with conspiracy to traffic cocaine and will eventually be transported back to Georgia - but are not believed to be responsible for the homicide.
Investigators said the men were associates of the three victims and traveled to Georgia with two of them to complete a drug transaction.
No information has been released about the third person in the SUV.
