BESSEMER CITY, NC (WBTV) - A Clover man was killed in an industrial accident at a Gaston County business on Monday.
Victor Towery was killed at a construction site along Lewis Farm Road in Bessemer City at 7:27 a.m. on Monday morning, according to emergency officials.
Towery was working for A&A Grading, according to the N.C. Department of Labor.
Towery, who goes by Bo, was taken to Gaston Memorial Hospital where he later died.
Dolores Quesenberry with the state labor department, said an investigation was being opened in Towery's death, which is standard procedure when someone is killed while on the job.
Quesenberry said Towery was struck by an excavator.
The safety records of the company, as well as any previous violations will be looked at, Quesenberry said.
A seach of workplace safety records kept by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration revealed no previous incidents going back through 2007.
