MATTHEWS, NC (WBTV) - Police in Matthews are looking for a man they say robbed a credit union, causing a school lock down, on Wednesday morning.
According to Matthews Police, the Charlotte Metro Credit Union was robbed around 9:45 Wednesday morning. The robbery caused nearby school,Butler High School, to be put on lock down for about 20 minutes.
Officers say they wanted to make sure the suspect had not fled in that direction.
The Police Department is working to determine the identity of the suspect is and how he fled the scene.
The suspect is described as a heavier set African American male, weighing approximately 250 pounds. He is between 6' and 6'2" with a goatee and salt and pepper hair.
The suspect is wearing blue jeans with a grey sweatshirt and a blue baseball cap.
