GASTONIA, NC (WBTV) - Three people were hurt in a chain reaction crash that State Troopers believe was started by ice.
It happened at about 5:30 Monday morning on Interstate 85 at bridge over Highway 321.
The Highway Patrol says the bridge had iced over, and a flat-bed trailer being pulled by an SUV started slipping on the ice, and swerved into another lane.
Another SUV hit the trailer, then hit a tanker truck, which pinned it against a concrete barricade.
Three people from inside the second SUV were rushed to the hospital with unknown injuries.
Three lanes of I-85 southbound had to be shut down while crews cleaned up the wreck.
