Man stabbed in motel parking lot, police say

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A man was found stabbed in the parking lot of a local motel, but police are unsure at this point if he was the victim or aggressor.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police got a call about a man who was stabbed multiple times in the parking lot of the Budget Inn just off of Reagan Road in northeast Charlotte around 2 a.m. Thursday.

Crews arrived to find a man who was suffering from at least two piercing wounds, one in his arm, another in his back.

Medics loaded him into the back of their truck, and he was taken to Carolinas Medical Center for doctors to treat him.  The latest word from the CMPD is he should be fine.

A man back at the scene was detained while police tried to figure out just what happened.

Early on, the working theory by officers was this may have been a car larceny, but police started backing away from that pretty quickly.

The reason for the confusion is both the victim as well as the man who was detained have very different stories on what happened.

Officers said they are going to have sort all of this out at the hospital before they can say if any charges are going to be filed in this case.
