CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A Conover woman is being released from prison after she was arrested for tampering with her infant daughter's Intravenous (IV) tube.
On Wednesday, a judge reduced the bond for Ladonna Parlier, 26, who is facing child abuse charged after an investigation showed she abused her 5-month-old daughter on multiple occasions.
Police were called to Carolinas Medical Center earlier this month after she was reportedly caught on camera trying to inject something into her little girl's IV tube.
According to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police report, officers were called after Parlier "aspirated blood from [the infant] and then some unknown substance into the victim with syringes, while both of them were staying in the same room."
Relatives and neighbors told WBTV that the little girl suffers from a cleft palate.
Police say they investigated Parlier on allegations of abuse and charges were filed after a joint investigation with the Department of Social Services.
Parlier's husband, Tim, said she was put on antidepressents after the baby was born but said she hadn't been taking them recently.
Parlier was initially being held on a $125,000 bond, which the judge reduced to $12,500 on Wednesday morning.
The judge order that Parlier should not have any contact with her children. She will reportedly live with a cousin in Buncombe County, on electronic monitoring, but is not allowed to have unsupervised contact with her cousin's children.
The judge has also ordered that Parlier must undergo a mental health evaluation.
She is facing five felony counts of child abuse inflicting serious injury and five misdemeanor counts of child neglect.
