TARBORO, NC (WRAL/WBTV) - A North Carolina high school basketball team has had its roster cleared out after authorities say 9 members of the team robbed a school concession
stand, WRAL reported.
The players for The Cougar team were all 16 and 17-years-old and attend
Southwest Edgecomb High School, according to WRAL.
In addition to larceny and breaking and entering charges the
nine students will face suspension from school, school system spokeswoman Lauren
Edmondson told WRAL.
Three of the players were suspended for six days while six others were
suspended for four days, WRAL reported. One of the players is a juvenile,
whose name has not been made public, the TV station reported.
According to WRAL, the players are:
- Eric
Williams, 16, of 3455 NC 111 South in Tarboro;
- Duane
McKesson, 16, of 6671 NC 258 in Pinetops;
- Delonta
Dupree, 17, of P.O. Box 1266 in Pinetops;
- Devonte
Williams, 16, of P.O. Box 1321 in Pinetops;
- Ernest
McKinnon, 17, of P.O. Box 1842 in Sharpsburg;
- Anthony
Coley, 17, of 1104 Johnson St. in Rocky Mount;
- TyQuavious
Wooten, 16, of P.O. Box 155 in Macclesfield,
- and
Gerald Hinton, 17, of P.O. Box 130 in Pinetops.
JV players will be used to fill the open slots on the senior
roster, WRAL reported.
All nine are also charged with possession of stolen property.
