Son of WBTV’s Melissa Greer turns 5-years-old

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A bittersweet celebration is happening this week.

Melissa Greer, WBTV's weekend meteorologist, died of a rare form of cancer in April, 2007 at the age of 27. 

When Melissa was diagnosed at the age of 27, she was a young, beautiful newlywed who had recently found out she was pregnant.  Her diagnosis – and subsequent death – profoundly affected our station, and the entire Charlotte-area.

Ten weeks before Melissa lost her fight, she gave birth to Connor through a complicated caesarean section.

February 6th – this coming Monday – marks Connor's 5th birthday. 

His dad Roger tells us he and Connor are doing extremely well.  Connor is healthy, happy and like most 5-year olds, excited about celebrating his birthday!
