Katie is absolutely thrilled to be at WBTV!
She interned for WBTV News 3 in both the Salisbury bureau and in Charlotte during the Summer of 2008. Katie got her start in news when she was 19.
She worked as the Christmas Eve reporter for WXII News 12 out of Denton, NC during the 50th year anniversary of her family's charity. She has also interned for ABC News (Raleigh), News 14 Carolina (Raleigh & Salisbury), WWAY (Wilmington).
Post college, she worked in radio as a traffic producer and reporter for Triangle Traffic Network, located in Raleigh, NC. She has also worked for two newspapers out of Wilmington, but quickly decided that television news was her passion, and all she wanted to pursue!
Katie also has acting experience, including recent film credits in "Piranha 3D", where she played "Lizzie the Lifeguard" alongside David Hasselhoff and Gary Busey.
Over the last 3 years, she has appeared on "One Tree Hill", the ABC Family Film, "Teen Spirit", and many commercials throughout North Carolina. She also served as a stand-in for Claire Danes in Showtime's "Homeland."
In 2009, she interned for Haute PR Firm. Her boss was Robin Kassner of "Millionaire Matchmaker". She also appeared on ABC's "Regis & Kelly" as a "Kelly Look-Alike".
Education: Meredith College- Major- Mass Communication, where she also played college tennis for a season.
Family: Katie is very close to her family. Parents - Carr & Keith, Brother - Sam, Sister - Sarah
Hobbies: Her biggest hobby is her job, but she also enjoys going on many mission trips with her home church in Salisbury! Katie has volunteered with Project Santa, Make-A-Wish, CMS "Communities in Schools", & The Dilworth Soup Kitchen.
