LENOIR, NC (WBTV) - Jeannie Hollar hadn't spent much time of late thinking about her remodeled kitchen. Why would she? The work, complete with new cabinets, counters and appliances had been done three years ago.
Her mindset changed last summer when her electric stove appeared to develop of a mind of its own.
"We just came home," said Hollar. "And the burners were on."
They were glowing red. Thankfully nothing was sitting on the stove top.
"It could have started a fire there easily," said Hollar.
Unsettling as it was, her fear really ramped up a couple months later when she says it was the oven that turned on by itself.
"I opened the oven door and I felt heat like I had never felt before," said Hollar. "It was very scary. I was terrified,"
They had to cut the power to turn the appliance off. Hollar wants it out of her home.
Why did the stove and oven act possessed? What does the manufacturer have to say? How can you find out if you're at risk? A Problem Solver Investigation gets answers Monday night at 11:00 on WBTV News 3.
