"I definitely would like to have free chicken for a year," said Tom Harders of Shawnee.
Springfield resident Lori Bryan agrees, saying, "The food here is delicious."
Blocker's Fine Foods is known as one of Effingham county's best restaurants, serving up things like coleslaw, okra and tomatoes, and fried Mac 'N Cheese. But it's their golden fried chicken that keeps customers coming.
Owner Roy Fields said, "Well, the secret is what we do in the back in the preparation room. That's the secret."
The company even says they're "selling chicken at a steal," according to another sign posted outside, but Sunday someone took this sign literal as they made their way into the business through the front door and stole hundreds of dollars.
"We have owned this for four years and this is the first time this has ever happened to us," said Fields.
As a way to help catch the criminal, Blockers is offering free chicken for a year to whoever comes forward with information leading to the arrest of those responsible.
The reward will be given away as 16 pieces of fried chicken monthly, along with fries, coleslaw, dinner rolls, and some sweet tea.
"I think that's a great idea and I hope it helps find the person who did this," Bryan said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Springfield Police Department at 912.754.3061.
